New to Climbing?
Watching seasoned rock climbers can be intimidating. They are fluid and strong. It can be hard to believe that you are capable of that, too. But it’s true! At one point, each of us has looked at a rock climb and thought, “There’s no way I can do this.” But you can! Climbing is a sport that rewards persistence and concentration above all else.
Why should you want to climb? Most importantly, it’s fun. At Active Climbing, we want you to have a great time. Climbing is also excellent full-body exercise. While the sport doesn’t require strength to start, you will definitely develop it as you progress. Whether you want to build a little muscle or shave off a few pounds, climbing is the ticket.
At Active Climbing, we have a knowledgeable staff who can show you everything you need to know to get started. Our community will take it from there. We have a great group of core members who are happy to help you out, whether you’re having trouble with a boulder problem or want to know the best spots to climb outside. Don’t be afraid to ask! At Active, we love climbing and we want you to love it, too!
What should I wear?
It’s a good idea to wear loose-fitting clothing that will give you full range of motion. Sneakers are the best choice if you don’t want to rent climbing shoes.
What benefits does climbing offer me beyond my traditional gym?
Climbing is totally different than a traditional gym. Instead of moving weights, we move ourselves. No two routes are alike, which lets us challenge ourselves to perform novel movements. In short, climbing is a full-body sport that can be as challenging for the mind as it is for the body. Climbing teaches you to conquer your fears and to trust in your abilities.
